 NEW EDITOR FOR METRO

Metro editor Bevan Rapson is leaving the role and will be succeeded by Simon Wilson,(pic left from current issue of Metro), a senior writer on the magazine and former editor of Cuisine and Consumer magazines.

Announcing the change, ACP Media chief executive Paul Dykzeul said that the company was sorry to be losing Rapson, who has had 11 years at Metro and been editor since 2008. “Bevan has decided he’s ready for a change and we wish him all the best for the future. He’s made a valuable contribution to Metro and the company.”

ACP was delighted to have appointed such a high calibre successor. “We have a terrific replacement in Simon Wilson, who has some exciting plans for the title.”
Rapson’s final edition as editor will be the June issue, out on June 7. Wilson will take over for Metro’s July-August Double Winter Issue.

Footnote: Metro has played an important part in the cultural and social life of Auckland from way back in the 1980's when it was established by Warwick Roger and Bruce Palmer. These days it is part of the ACP Magazines stable. It has always provided strong, extensive book review coverage.
Random House NZ publisher Nicola Legat is a former Metro editor.
The Bookman has been reading the magazine since it's first issue and offers his congratulations and best wishes to Simon Wilson on his appointment.
