Will eReaders Democratize Publishing?
By Jason Boog on Jan 08, 2010 , Galley Cat

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), one bestselling author predicted that eBooks would democratize the publishing experience. What do you think?
All week mediabistro.com's editorial director Chris Ariens has sent video dispatches from CES. In the video embedded below, he interviewed best-selling author and GalleyCat fan Tess Gerritsen. Her next thriller comes out in July, but she thought the eBook revolution would be invaluable for up-and-coming authors.

Gerritsen (pic right) confessed to owning a Kindle, but praised the cheaper COOL-ER eReader for its "utter weightlessness." She concluded: "[eBooks] make it very easy for new authors. Because there's really no need for a publisher for someone who hasn't broken into publishing or can't break in the traditional way. For regular authors, we still get royalties--it's just another way to find readers."
