Mark Derby will talking at this event on his recent book The Prophet and the Policeman.

This is an account of the dramatic tragic raid on Rua Kenana’s spiritual community in the Ureweras. The Commissioner of the New Zealand Police Force was known to be violent, devious and authoritarian; Rua Kenana was gentle and inspirational.
The final pages of the book touch on the 2007 anti-terrorist raids on Tuhoe and their urban supporters.
Mark Derby is a writer and historian who has worked for Te Ara and for the Waitangi Tribunal.
