Widespread media enthusiasm for the publishing bonanza taking place today (1st October), nicknamed "Super Thursday", means the book trade is getting broad coverage in the press/broadcast media and online.
The Bookseller first highlighted the phenonmenon at the same time last year, when nearly 800 titles were published on 2nd October.
Titles released today include major non-fiction titles from Chris Evans, Jo Brand, Ozzy Osbourne and Dara O'Briain, and fiction titles from Cecelia Ahern, Stieg Larsson and Audrey Niffenegger. Among the new titles released is a large number of books that publishers hope will be Christmas hits.
BBC Breakfast News and BBC Radio 5 Live covered the story this morning, and Channel 4 News isset to do so later today.
The Daily Telegraph is planning an article today, while the Guardian ran a full-page article on Super Thursday last Saturday (26th September).
