Te Tai Tamariki’s exhibition Off the Page opened Tuesday at COCA in Christchurch.
As one of the Board of Trustees, Kim Dovey of Book Design Ltd, mentioned in her opening speech,
“Te Tai Tamariki has been set up to preserve and promote New Zealand children’s literature. Our country has produced many world-renowned authors, artists and illustrators. It is the original manuscripts, illustrations and other media of these New Zealanders that Te Tai Tamariki wants to protect for the future ... The Trust proposes that a national centre be established to collect and preserve such works, as well as providing dynamic exhibitions throughout the country.“
