The Decider is writing a book about the decisions he decided upon. George Bush's book, which he has almost certainly, but not definitely, decided to call Decision Points, has been acquired by Random House division Crown – which also publishes Barack Obama and Condoleezza Rice – and is scheduled for release in 2010.
It will focus on around 12 choices the former US president made on both a personal and presidential level, from the war in Iraq to giving up drinking, his response to Hurricane Katrina, and his religious faith.

"I want people to understand the environment in which I was making decisions. I want people to get a sense of how decisions were made and I want people to understand the options that were placed before me," Bush told the Associated Press in a brief telephone interview yesterday.
He said he started the book two days after leaving the White House, and has already written 30,000 words. The book would, he said, contain self-criticism, but he told the AP that "hindsight is very easy" and that he wanted readers to understand events in the way he saw them at the time.
"I want to recreate what it was like, for example, right after 9/11, and have people understand the emotions I felt and what others around me felt at the time," he said.

The deal was struck by lawyer Robert Barnett, who also negotiated a deal for Bush's wife Laura for her own set of memoirs, which are due out in 2010 from Simon & Schuster imprint Scribner.
