The Women in Film and Television Awards for 2008 will be presented on Monday 11 August at SKYCITY Theatre, Auckland in a special gala evening open to everyone.

A who’s who of New Zealand screen industry women feature in the finalists’ list including Judy Bailey, Gaylene Preston, Jaquie Brown, Elizabeth Mitchell, Rachel Lang, Annie Goldson, Roseanne Liang, Robin Laing and Sima Urale.

Always a fabulous night on the social calendar, the Awards are an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding successes of women in the screen industries and provide critical funds for the ongoing mentoring, internship, workshop and communications activities of WIFT New Zealand.

Hosted by Jennifer Ward-Lealand, the audience will be treated to entertainment from comedienne Justine Smith and friends, iconic film and television clips from the last sixty years including Town and Around, Close To Home, Pukemanu, Gloss and Whale Rider, a special goodie bag, and a raft of spot and raffle prizes including an LG 42inch LCD television. Guests will also enjoy fine Matua Bubbly and wines, Waiwera Artesian water and a full canapés service. The evening finishes off with music and dancing led by DJ Leza Corban.
