Musician Samuel Flynn Scott one of three Awards’ judges says the concept of liberating your words personally resonated with him and is a reason he wanted to be involved. “As a musician, I feel I sometimes hide my words away, they can get lost in the mix or sometimes swallowed in a reverberation or sound reflection. This initiative is about bringing the words to the forefront and to my mind providing a tasty slice of wordplay that is about what words sound right and, as importantly, what words sound cool.”
The awards are a collaboration between New Zealand Post and Victoria University’s School of Modern Letters.
