Last night in Sydney Sri Lankan Australian author Michelle de Kretser won the Christina Stead Prize for Fiction - this is THE fiction prize - at THE NSW PREMIER'S AWARDS.
She then went on to win the overall BOOK OF THE YEAR Award selected from the winners in all categories. These awards are for her book, The Lost Dog.
The Lost Dog is Michelle's latest work, her earlier novels being The Rose Grower and The Hamilton Case. I have long rated her as one of the very best of young Australian writers and these latest accolades confrim that view.
