Publishers Lunch



Random House continues its absorption of Crown personnel and publishing lines. The Hogarth imprint becomes part of "little Random House family of imprints." Alexis Washam is promoted to editorial director of Hogarth, and will report to Susan Kamil. Parisa Ebrahimi moves up to senior editor for the line. Crown's Julian Pavia and Hilary Teeman both move over to Ballantine Bantam Dell, as executive editors.

Penguin Random House UK Children's is restructuring its rights department into three units: new business, brands and reprints, and rights operations. As a result, head of rights Camilla Borthwick is leaving the company at the end of the month, as are Joanna Lawrie and Catherine Harrison, who have shared the job of senior rights manager. Stefan Davey will be promoted to head of rights operations, and the company will
recruit people to lead the other two units.

Mandy Medley is leaving her position as publicity director at Coffee House Press on February 1. She moves to Nectar Literary, a new literary publicity and communications firm founded by Alyson Sinclair. Also at Coffee House, Daley Farr will join as publicist on February 4. She was previously a bookseller, buyer and events coordinator at Milkweed Books.

Meg Wheeler has been promoted to international rights director.

Karly Caserza has been promoted to associate agent at Fuse Literary.

Graphic Arts Books has rebranded, changing its name to West Margin Press on January 22, 2019, "signaling a new direction for the over fifty-year-old publishing house." Publishing director Jennifer Newens says in the announcement, "We want to make room for more voices, increasingly engaging visuals, and an expansive view of the world within our house."

Former president of General Publishing and former president and publisher of Stoddart Publishing Jack Stoddart, 74,
died at home on January 17.
