excitement to the shock General Election result, which saw the
Conservatives fail to win a majority government, and Labour increase its
number of seats by 29 – contradicting many pollsters’ predictions of a
large Tory majority.

Renowned literary agent Ed Victor has died aged 78, his agency
has confirmed.
In a statement, the agency said: "It is with the deepest
sadness that we announce the death of Ed Victor CBE, Chairman and founder
of the Ed Victor Literary Agency. He died of a heart attack late in the
evening on 7th June at the London Clinic after a long battle with chronic
lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL)."

annual Pushkin House Russian book prize for her title The Russian Canvas: Painting in
Imperial Russia, 1757-1881, published by Yale.

John Murray is publishing a biting satire on
modern politics by Frankie Boyle called Your Guide to Hell following
a "hotly contested" auction.
Senior commissioning editor Kate Hewson bought world rights to
the book, designed "to guide us through this political wasteland
we all call home", from Hannah Chambers at Chambers Management to
publish in hardback, e-book and audio download in October 2017.
