Literary agency Blake Friedmann has announced the death of agency co-founder Carole Blake.
Bloomsbury’s total revenues were up 19% to £62.7m for the six months ending 31st August 2016, which is “in line with management’s expectations”, though the company expects sales to be “significantly second-half weighted” due to Christmas sales and October being the "peak period" for academic book sales.
Ether Books
Mobile e-book start-up Ether Books is to be sold after its founders decided that it needed fresh investment to develop the service out of beta. It is now looking to sell the business to a publisher or other book industry company.

Clean Eating Alice
HarperThorsons has acquired Eat Well Every Day, the second book from Alice Liveing, the "powerhouse" behind the Instagram account, Clean Eating Alice.
Canongate
Canongate has acquired its fourth book by Simon Garfield, titled In Miniature, describing it as a "big book of small things".
DK is attending MCM London Comic Con this weekend to showcase its collection of Star Wars, Marvel, DC Comics and LEGO titles - and, as the official sponsor of the Kid Zone, will be offering children the chance to take part in LEGO activities and challenges.  
The Federation of Children’s Book Groups (FCBG) and World Book Day (WBD) will next month launch a competition to give away £1,000 worth of non-fiction children’s books.
