New Toni Morrison novel coming in April

NEW YORK (AP) — Nobel laureate Toni Morrison has a new novel coming next spring.
"God Help the Child" will be released April 30, publisher Alfred A. Knopf announced Tuesday. It's the 11th novel by Morrison, who turns 84 in February.

Knopf Doubleday Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Sonny Mehta says "God Help the Child" is a contemporary story about the consequences of a student's allegation against a teacher. The new book is a "compact, fierce work," he says in a statement.

Morrison is known for such historical fiction as "Beloved" and "Jazz."
Morrison's most recent novel, "Home," was set in the 1950s and told of a black Korean War veteran's return to the U.S
