Queen of Teen shortlist

UK authors such as Holly Smale, James Dawson and Beth Reekles are on the shortlist for this year’s Queen of Teen award, alongside US heavy hitters such as John Green and Cassandra Clare.
This year also marks the second successive Queen of Teen nomination for James Dawson, author of novels such as Hollow Pike (Indigo).

Also shortlisted are Cathy Cassidy, Natasha Farrant, S C Ransom, Tonya Hurley and Veronica Roth.
The award was set up by The Book People in 2008 to encourage teenage girls to read. Shortlisted authors are chosen by readers votes via an online poll and past winners include Louise Rennison (2008), Cathy Cassidy (2010) and reigning Queen Maureen Johnson (2012).

The winner of this year's competition will be announced at ceremony in Godalming, Surrey, 11th July. Readers between nine and 18 years old can vote for their choice online at queenofteen.co.uk.
