TV Book Club picks two Man Booker nominees

Two Man Booker shortlistees, two debuts and two non-fiction titles are on the list for the next season of “The TV Book Club”.

Emma Donoghue’s Room (Pan Macmillan) and Andrea Levy’s The Long Song (Headline), both shortlisted for this year’s Man Booker are on the 10-strong list. The third series of the show begins on More4 in January, with repeats on Channel 4 during the following day.

The list also includes Catherine O’Flynn’s The News Where You Are (Viking), Even the Dogs by Jon McGregor (Bloomsbury), thriller Bleed for Me by former investigative journalist Michael Robotham (Little, Brown) and Alan Furst’s Second World War-set Spies of the Balkans (Orion).


The non-fiction titles comprise Patrick Hennessey’s The Junior Officer’s Reading Club (Penguin Press) and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot (Pan Macmillan).
While first-timer Sarita Mandanna’s story of forbidden love Tiger Hills (Orion) and TV producer and Orange Prize judge Daisy Goodwin’s My Last Duchess (Headline) complete the debuts.

According to production company Cactus, the show’s inaugural season in January of this year had average ratings of around 400,000 viewers per week.
