Further international success for The Heir of the Night

The Heir of Night and Wall of Night Series Sells Foreign Rights to Luitingh-Sijthoff

Writers' House Literary Agency have sold foreign rights to Helen Lowe's The Heir of Night and Wall of Night series to the Luitingh Fantasy imprint of Luitingh-Sijthoff publishers in the Netherlands.

The Luitingh Fantasy imprint was founded sin 1992 and has developed into the Netherlands’ largest and most prominent publisher of translated speculative fiction and fantasy, with leading authors such as Terry Goodkind, Robin Hobb, Raymond E. Feist, Bernhard Hennen, George R.R. Martin, Robert Jordan and Markus Heitz.

Lowe's The Heir of Night was released in the USA (HarperCollins) and Australia/New Zealand (Little, Brown) on 1 October and is scheduled for UK release in March 2011. International reviews for The Heir of Night have been strong with Library Journal (USA) describing it as " ... reinvigorating the epic fantasy with appealing characters and a richly detailed world."

Fantasy Book Review (UK) says"... in a world where fantasy books are often decried as a dime a dozen, Helen Lowe’s The Heir of Night is a bright jewel unlooked for, but greatly appreciated" and Specusphere (Australia) that: "There is a Nordic doom pervading the tale; an unrelentingly dark haunting atmosphere ... The Heir of Night managed to keep me completely hooked from beginning to end."

Thank you. It's always a buzz when you know people enjoy what you write--and was a tremendous thrill to have translation rights sold for the first time.
