Amazon Kindles cash from Wikileaks

Amazon Kindles cash from Wikileaks

- Won't host the leaked cables but will sell them
By John Oates in The A Register, 9th December 2010

Updated Amazon's UK tentacle is selling a Kindle version of the Wikileaks documents for £7.37.
Although the documents are freely available, it seems an odd move from Amazon which kicked Wikileaks off its hosting service.
Even odder Amazon's US Kindle store is not stocking the collection of documents.

The book is published by Heinz Duthel, whose other works include biographies of Julian Assange, David Cameron and Zinedine Zidane. More esoteric offerings include Learn Chinese finger Shadows plays (1) and Discovering Asian Women - apparently a guide to sourcing a Thai wife.

We've contacted Amazon and will update this story should we hear back.

DDoS attacks against perceived enemies of Assange and Wikileaks continue. Operation Payback took out Mastercard yesterday, and today attacks are still going on against websites linked to Sarah Palin, Visa and PayPal as well as Mastercard.
It also seems that some members of Anonymous are strengthening their botnets by infecting other people's PCs with malware. ®

Update
The UK Kindle store now says that the Duthel's book does not contain the actual cables, merely commentary and analysis. But the book does contain at least excerpts from the cables, according to the Associated Press.
