Something to look forward to: Joan Didion will release a new memoir in 2011. Titled Blue Nights, the book will be about aging. Asked how aging has treated her, she said, “I’d just as soon not. I’d as soon skip it, skip that aspect,” before adding, “It never crossed my mind that I would not.” Now in her 70s, Didion’s last book, The Year of Magical Thinking, addressed the death of her husband and the illness of her daughter, who later passed away.
