This unusual invitation from Gemma Finlay, one of the cheerful publicists as Hachette NZ

Is your boss a complete pain in the ar*se? Deal with your rage the passive-aggressive way by getting them killed!

For the second year running Orion author Lisa Gardner is running a “name the stiff” competition on her website called “Kill a Friend, Maim a Mate” and you have until June 26 to nominate someone you love or loath to a lifetime of literary immortality.

The winning “stiff” will meet a grand end in Lisa’s 2010 novel and the nominating party will receive signed copies of the novel, plus a mention in the acknowledgments (assuming they want to be acknowledged).

Lisa’s latest novel, The Neighbour, is published in July .

Lisa has been writing since she sold her first book at age 20 and has published more than 23 novels, a number of which have been New York Times bestsellers.

Cheers, Gemma
PS… Note from Lisa: Please don’t provide a physical description of the proposed Lucky Stiff or details about the manner in which you’d like to see the person die. This is supposed to be a harmless bit of fun, not the beginning of therapy.
