LONDON - Apple is poised to make an offer for Twitter in a $700m (£465m) deal that could come as early as June, according to reports.
Industry blog Valleywag claims an inside source at Apple is involved in advanced negotiations with Twitter, aiming to seal a deal by June 8, when Apple is due to host its Worldwide Developers Conference.
And from Online Media Daily:

Google, Apple, Microsoft and News Corp. are all poking their noses around Twitter, reports Kara Swisher. "Because this is America, a bid for Twitter could come at any time and in any amount."
But Twitter's co-founders don't want to sell, she says. "There is a sense when you talk to its founders and investors that they truly believe they are onto some very important interactive communications paradigm shift in the Internet arena with their start-up.
"Twitter's co-founders may not seem like they want to sell, but if Google, Apple, Microsoft or News Corp. were to table a hefty $700 million offer, Swisher says "an epic free-for-all wrestling match to the death would break out among all of them, most especially Google and Microsoft. Sounds like fun to us!
