TURNER RATTLES NICOLAS' CAGE
Kathleen Turner has been hit with a lawsuit by Nicolas Cage after the raspy-voiced actress wrote in her new autobiography that he was twice arrested for DUI and possibly stealing a Chihuahua.
Now Cage's lawyer has begun libel proceedings in London's High Court. The book, "Send Yourself Roses," was first previewed by Britain's Daily Mail. Cage's rep tells us that "If he doesn't get an apology and a retraction, he intends to go full speed ahead with litigation in the U.S."
Nicolas Cage , right.
Kathleen Turner has been hit with a lawsuit by Nicolas Cage after the raspy-voiced actress wrote in her new autobiography that he was twice arrested for DUI and possibly stealing a Chihuahua.
"I have never been arrested for anything in my life, nor have I stolen a dog," Cage, Turner's co-star in "Peggy Sue Got Married," fumed in a statement.
Let's hope that the actress, 53, has earmarked some of her advance money for legal fees - she doesn't mince words about her other leading men, saying that Steve Martin "wasn't standoffish, but he certainly wasn't warm"; and that, in 1985, she thought she was in love with Michael Douglas, but "it would have been a huge mistake. I would have had to subvert my career."
Meanwhile, her ex-husband, real estate mogul Jay Weiss, is in a snit over a New York Times blog story that painted him as the negligent landlord who oversaw the Harlem apartment Barack Obama lived in while attending Columbia. We gave Weiss a chance to clear his name, but he snapped that because he wasn't a celebrity, we shouldn't be harassing him. Give us some credit, Jay - we're equal-opportunity harassers!
