NZ Bestsellers this week

Booksellers NZ
There is a strong Ockham NZ Book Awards influence on the NZ lists this week, primarily in the Fiction / Poetry category. Catherine Chidgey's Acorn-winning The Wish Child takes out two spaces, while Poetry winner Fits & Starts by Andrew Johnston and Best First Book winners - Hera Lindsay Bird for Poetry and Gina Cole's Black Ice Matter for Fiction - also feature. Every title on the Fiction list was by somebody who appeared at Auckland Writers' Festival; and this goes for the Indie Top 20 as well. Non-fiction is a bit more regular, with Jake Bailey's biography topping it, and The New Zealand Project surging in response to Max Harris' lecture at AWF. There is a couple of new books on the Children's & YA chart, with We're Off to Find a Kiwi, as well as junior fiction title The Dragon Defenders. Click through for the international headliners.
