NZ Association of Manuscript Assessors

The New Zealand Association of Manuscript Assessors (NZAMA) is a group of professional New Zealand-based editors and writers who offer authors objective advice and guidance on how to bring their work closer to publishable standard.  Members of the Association have long experience in the local publishing scene as writers, editors, writing tutors and/or publishing consultants.

 
The Association has a code of practice and strict entry criteria. Its purpose is to give writers confidence in the professional capabilities of its members and thereby help writers avoid exploitation by unscrupulous operators in the field of mentoring, publishing advice and manuscript assessment.

The current downturn in commercial publishing in New Zealand along with the boom in self-publishing means it is harder than ever for an author to get noticed. A professional assessment on their work can help writers improve and gain better chances of attracting a serious publisher.

Writers need to contact members individually for fees and other details, such as how to present manuscripts (e.g. do not email manuscripts as attachments unless the assessor has agreed). Please make enquiries by email or write with a stamped self-addressed envelope.
