Indie and boutique publishing in New
Zealand is on the rise, as more and more readers are looking beyond the big
bookstores and their diet of repetitive works from the same tried and tested
bestseller list of authors from America.
The annual New Zealand Book Festival is a
celebration of what has been a turning point in the literary world, one that is
gaining momentum. Each year it attracts more established authors along with
emerging talent, partly due to the disappearance of local representation from publishing
houses as they turn their attention to greener shores, but also because of the
freedom self-publishing allows in creative and marketing decisions.
On 5 November, 2016 the NZ Book Festival
will mark its third year, and we would like to invite you to be part of an
