Life changing trips from 35 great writers' is Lonely Planet's annual
collection of literary essays. It's edited by Don George, who writes in his
Introduction that '[these stories] all ultimately illuminate one common
truth: However it manifests itself when we travel, innocence can be a
life-changing catalyst for discovery, connection, and transformation on the
road.'
New Zealand writers in
the line up are Lloyd Jones (in Zurich), Fiona Kidman (in Vietnam) and Kerre
McIvor (Woodham) ( in Cuba). Other writers include Richard Ford, Alexander
McCall Smith, Ann Patchett, Jane Smiley, John Berendt, Jan Morris ,
Marina Lewyca and Pico Iyer
