The Orwell Prize 2014 will launch
with our annual debate at the Frontline Club
in Paddington on the evening of Monday 21st October where we will introduce our
judges and open for entries.
This year's discussion will focus on
'Internet and the Modern Self: Manners and Abuse Online'. The panel of speakers
include Helen Goodman MP, Madam Miaow
Says blogger Anna Chen and Professor Suzanne Franks. What is going on after a notable summer of online abuse?
Why are online personas so different? How do we fix this?
2014 will mark the 21st annual
Orwell Prize with last year's winners including Andrew Norfolk who broke the
grooming scandal of 2012 and the memorialisation of Marie Colvin for her
posthumous collection On the Front Line.
Book your free
place and see full details here to join us for an evening of debate, drinks
and celebration.
The Orwell Prize, Britain’s most
prestigious prize for political writing, is supported by the Media Standards
Trust, Political Quarterly, AM Heath and Richard Blair (Orwell’s son).
