News from her publisher:
Allen & Unwin is very pleased to announce
that Samantha Shannon, author of The Bone
Season, will be visiting Auckland on Monday 18 November, following an
appearance at Supernova Pop Culture Expo in Australia.
At the staggeringly young age of 19, Samantha
Shannon wrote The Bone Season, the
first book in a seven-part series of dizzying imagination. The Bone Season introduces a compelling heroine and also
introduces an extraordinary young writer, now 21, who has created a bold new
reality in this riveting debut.
The Bone Season has been sold in 18 languages and Andy Serkis
(Lord of the Rings) and Jonathan
Cavendish (Bridget Jones’s Diary)
have sold film rights through their British production company, The Imaginarium
Studios, to 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment who will
shortly begin production.
“Shannon, just 21, imagines a futuristic London in
2059, where a young clairvoyant is trying to free her people. Call it this
summer’s The Hunger Games.” –

“It's no wonder 21-year-old Oxford grad Samantha
Shannon has been drawing comparisons to J.K. Rowling.” —Entertainment Weekly
‘A new breed of women authors are claiming fantasy
for their own. Leading the charge is Samantha Shannon’ —Harper’s Bazaar
“If anyone is looking for a book the read, whilst
they wait for Allegiant, I suggest The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon.
Such a good read.”—Divergents UK

About The Bone Season
The year is 2059. Nineteen-year-old Paige Mahoney is working in the
criminal underworld of Scion London, based at Seven Dials, employed by a man
named Jaxon Hall. Her job: to scout for information by breaking into people’s
minds. For Paige is a dreamwalker, a clairvoyant and, in the world of Scion,
she commits treason simply by breathing.
It is raining the day her life changes for ever. Attacked, drugged and
kidnapped, Paige is transported to Oxford – a city kept secret for two hundred
years, controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race. Paige is assigned to
Warden, a Rephaite creature with mysterious motives. He is her master. Her

allow herself to be nurtured in this prison where she is meant to die.
