Jim Crace odds-on for Man Booker but with late betting for Eleanor Catton

Jim Crace remains the bookies'  favourite to win the Man Booker Prize, to be awarded this evening (Tuesday 15th October).
Bookmakers William Hill and Paddy Power both have Crace's Harvest (Picador) as favourite to win the Man Booker with odds of 5/4, with Ladbrokes giving odds of 6/4.

Late betting has come in for Eleanor Catton, who at 28 would be the youngest ever winner with her novel The Luminaries (Granta). She is now second favourite, with odds of 11/4 at William Hill and Ladbrokes, while Paddy Power has slashed her odds to 3/1 over the weekend.

Colm Toibin, who is shortlisted for a third time with his novel The Testament of Mary (Viking), is third favourite with odds of 4/1.

William Hill said there had been a late surge of support for Catton, including a number of three-figure bets. Spokesman Graham Sharpe said: "As far as our literary punters are concerned, this year’s Man Booker is a three-horse race, so we will be celebrating if any of the other three runners can win."
The three other shortlisted titles are Ruth Ozeki's A Tale for the Time Being (Canongate), which William Hill has at 8/1, Jhumpa Lahiri's The Lowland (Bloomsbury), at 9/1, and NoViolet Bulawayo's We Need New Names (Chatto), also at 9/1.
The winner will be revealed live on the BBC News Channel at 9.45pm, with the Duchess of Cornwall presenting the award.
