Catton takes the crown

Eleanor Catton won the Man Booker Prize for Fiction on Tuesday night with her second novel The Luminaries. Granta is already rushing through a 25,000-strong hardback reprint. At 28, Catton is the youngest Booker winner ever. The Guardian observed: 'it's the seriousness of Catton's work that strikes you when talking to her". The Times patronisingly mused: "She's a chick, but nobody could mistake her work for chick lit".
