is a singer and principal songwriter for Lyttelton band The Eastern, who have
released three albums since 2009, most recently last year's acclaimed
double-album, Hope and Wire. They have played close to 200 performances a year
around New Zealand, Australia and America over the past six years, and are
about to embark on a six-week tour of rural New Zealand with Arts On Tour NZ,
visiting Taumarunui, Opotiki, Tauranga, Kauaeranga, Coromandel Town, Whangarei,
Kaikohe, Waimamaku, Whakatane, Hastings, Tahora, Fairlie, Oamaru, Twizel,
Arrowtown, Riverton, Stewart Island, Ettrick Hall, Franz Josef Glacier,
Okarito, Hokitika, Westport, Karamea, Richmond, Hanmer Springs, Balcairn and
Ashburton (26 January to 3 March).

David Lawrence is director of The Bacchanals, a theatre
company he founded in 2000 to explore text-based theatre and redefine classic
works. The Bacchanals' production of Shakespeare's tragedy Coriolanus will be
performed at The Long Hall behind Roseneath School (7pm, 24 January to 2
February 2013, excluding Sunday), and their production of Aristophanes' comedy
The Clouds will be performed at BATS Theatre in their temporary venue on the
corner of Cuba and Dixon Streets (1-13 April).

Helen Stead is the co-convenor of Oamaru Scott 100, a
programme of events from 6-10 February commemorating the return to Oamaru of
the 1913 Scott Expedition to Antarctica aboard the Terra Nova.
