in children's publishing and literature.
This exciting role
is within the Publishing department is available on a fixed term basis to cover
for maternity leave. You will be responsible for the overall publishing
program including administrative tasks - making sure that projects run to
schedule and budget, managing contracts, rights and permissions and making sure
that illustrators/designers are commissioned for all upcoming books.
There is a strong creative side to the role, which would be ideal for someone who has worked within the publishing industry previously.

Manage Scholastic NZ upcoming publishing progra
Staff management
Preparation of publishing schedules for all Scholastic NZ titles in productio
Overseeing all aspects of book production including managing costings and budgets, liaison with authors, illustrators and designers through all publishing stages, in conjunction with other editorial staff, production, procurement team
Managing eBook production and sales and marketing for New Zealand and international title
Review and assessment of all unsolicited and solicited manuscripts.
Writing copy for all publication
Manage daily administration tasks
Assist with design and layout of promotional material
Preparation of author / illustrator contract
Organisation of books for international book fairs

You will
need:
A detailed knowledge of all aspects of book production and book publishing
A good understanding of the current children’s book industry in New Zealand
Strong organisational skills and able to multi task and coordinate all aspects of a busy role
Exposure or experience in working with InDesign, Adobe Acrobat and other design or layout software
An ability to work well with people in a small team
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Fast accurate keyboard skills and an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Self-motivated, hardworking and ready to take on this challenging and rewarding role
Determination, decisiveness and an ability to take calculated risks
