8:15 Richard Aldrich
Richard J Aldrich is a Professor of International Security at the University of Warwick. His main research interests lie in the area of intelligence and security communities. He is currently leading a team of eight scholars at the universities of Nottingham and Warwick who are examining the creation of the public record of the CIA in realms such as history, memoirs, novels and film. Richard recently completed a new book, GCHQ: The Uncensored Story of Britain's Most Secret Intelligence Agency - HarperCollins.

Salman Khan founded the Khan Academy with the hope of using technology to foster new learning models. His homemade tutorials on YouTube are the most popular educational resource on the web. Sal is currently the portfolio manager of a fund based in California, and has an MBA from Harvard Business School, a Masters in electrical engineering and computer science, a BS in electrical engineering and computer science, and a BS in mathematics from MIT.

British novelist Barbara Trapido (pic left-The Independent) is the author of seven novels, including the semi-autobiographical Frankie & Stankie, and, most recently, Sex and Stravinsky -Bloomsbury.
Barbara is a guest of the Christchurch Writers Festival (9-12 September), with a session on 11 September, and will give a talk at the Pioneer Women's Memorial Hall, High St, Auckland, on 12 September.

Charley Gray founded The Island of Real Caf* in Auckland in 1977, and went on to manage Th' Dudes, open The Last and First Caf* in 1982, and Charley Gray's Pictures at the Capitol Cinema in the mid-1980s. After time living in Australia and Whanganui, he now lives in Hawke's Bay, as a cinema consultant.

11:35 Judith Binney

Dame Judith Binney is Emeritus Professor of History at the University of Auckland, and the author of several books including Redemption Songs, which won the Montana Book of the Year in 1996. Her 2009 book, Encircled Lands: Te Urewera 1821-1920  - Bridget Williams Books repeated that achievement as NZ Post Book of the Year 2010, and her collection of essays from 1975-2010, Stories Without End - Bridget Williams Books, will be published in October.
Dame Judith will be speaking at the free event, Meet the 2010 New Zealand Post Book Awards Winners, with Fiction winner Alison Wong, Poetry winner Brian Turner and People's Choice and Illustrated Non-fiction winner Al Brown, in conversation with Kim Hill from 1:00-2:30pm on Sunday 5 September at Te Papa Tongarewa in Wellington.
