Amazon has made its Kindle e-book reader application available for UK owners of the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
The application is free and uses technology that saves and synchronises a customer's bookmarks across Kindle devices. For example, a user can read a book on their Kindle and then pick up where they left off on their iPhone.
Other features include the ability to read the beginning of books for free, read books in full colour and choose from six font sizes and number of words per line. Amazon launched the application to iPhone users in more than 60 countries on Saturday.
Ian Freed, vice-president for Amazon Kindle, said: "The Kindle for iPhone App is the perfect companion for customers who own a Kindle or Kindle DX, and a great way for customers around the world to download and read books even if they don't yet have a Kindle."
