EMILY PERKINS HOME AGAIN

I ran into NZ novelist Emily Perkins (pic left-The Independent) up in Ponsonby Road yesterday so we repaired to the excellent Agnes Curran cafe for a cup of coffee and chat.
She is just back from the Hay Festival, second year in a row she has appeared there, and was delighted to arrive home and find her latest novel. Novel About My Wife (Bloomsbury) has been shortlisted in the fiction category of the Montana New Zealand Book Awards.

While in the UK she went across to Albania for a few days to carry out research for her next book. Authors tend to be reluctant to talk about work in progress but I did manage to elicit from her that the novel, as yet unnamed, is partly set in the Albanian capital Tirana.
