Latest News from The Bookseller including - 'No publishing plans yet' for J K Rowling's new children's book

The news that Amazon is to open a physical bookshop, albeit not in the UK, has been met with a mixed reaction in the trade, with some saying they are “horrified”, while others have welcomed the move.
Pocket Shop
Pocket Shop, the Northern European bookstore chain acquired by Swedish media giant Bonnier in 2012, is eyeing a launch in the UK.
David Walliams
David Walliams has recaptured the Official Top 50 number one from Zoe “Zoella” Sugg, as Grandpa’s Great Escape (HarperCollins Children’s) outsold Girl Online: On Tour (Penguin) by just 337 copies.
J K Rowling’s agent has told The Bookseller there are no immediate plans to publish her children’s book in progress.

French writer Mathias Enard has won France's top literary prize, the Prix Goncourt, for his book Boussole ("Compass") which is published by Fitzcarraldo Editions.

Global sales at Simon & Schuster increased 2% to $203m (£131m) in the third quarter, helped by continued sales of Anthony Doerr's 2014 Pultizer prize-winning novel All the Light We Cannot See.
His Dark Materials
BBC One has commissioned a new drama series based on Philip Pullman’s epic fantasy trilogy of novels, His Dark Materials.
To be made in Wales, the series, which will be told across “many episodes and series” has been commissioned by Charlotte Moore, controller BBC One and Polly Hill, controller BBC Drama Commissioning, and will be produced by Bad Wolf and New Line Cinema.
The Quarto Group
Illustrated publishing group Quarto has released its interim results for the third quarter showing it is “on track” to meet its targets in reducing debt and growing earnings - and ahead of the group’s “traditionally strongest fourth quarter”.
Sainsbury's e-book of the year
Sainsbury’s has opened the public poll for its Entertainment eBook of the Year 2015, which seeks to find the nation's best-loved e-books.
Now in its third year, the award is a celebration of “the very best the world of books has to offer”, allowing voters to choose from Sainsbury’s longlist of 141 titles spanning a range of genres, or “any book that’s been popular this year” if preferred, it says on its website.
