Launch of Open Your Eyes, Jackson Ryder

On 14 October Escalator Press launched Open Your Eyes, Jackson Ryder at the Wellington Central Library. Our guest speaker, Owen Mapp, delivered a rave review of the book: "Rudy... has generated a plot that both teenagers and adults will find compulsive reading."

Launch of Waitapu

A week after the launch of Open Your Eyes, Jackson Ryder, the Wellington Central Library became the location of a second book party. This time, for Helen Waaka’s Waitapu. Waitapu was first launched in Hawke’s Bay on 15 October.

Guest speaker Renée commented that "Tonight is a night for rejoicing because after reading Waitapu I feel like someone has finally got what small towns in Aotearoa are about. I congratulate Helen for capturing this essence and I congratulate Escalator Press for recognising hers." As Renée said, while Waitapu may be about a small town, it is full of large stories.
