The NZSA Peter & Dianne Beatson Fellowship 2015 seeks applications from writers of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama with a literary track record, who are currently working on a new project.
This annual Fellowship is generously donated by Peter Beatson and provides the successful applicant with a stipend of $7,000.
In 2014 the fellowship was awarded to poet and novelist Emma Neale who used the fellowship to work on her new novel Billy Bird. The judges commented that Emma Neale’s project was ‘inventive, joyful and beautifully written’. Thanks to the fellowship, Emma has now completed a fourth draft of her novel, and the first pages of this have been published in Landfall 229 (Autumn 2015) under the title “The How Do We Begin?”
Deadline for applications: 5pm 24 August 2015
This Fellowship is for members of the NZ Society of Authors. Membership of the NZ Society of Authors is open to all developing and established writers. NZSA provides: literary sector news, a mentorship programme, manuscript assessment, manuscript services, contract advice, advocacy and representation for writers, information on the publishing industry, grants and other opportunities, along with affiliation to international PEN.
