Sarah Waters, Sally Nicholls and Salvatore Rubbino are the winners of the Independent Bookshop Week (IBW) Book Awards 2015.
Revealed to mark the official beginning of IBW tomorrow (20th June), the winning titles will be featured throughout independent bookshops across the UK.
Waters’ The Paying Guests (Virago) won the adult category, beating off competition from authors such as Hilary Mantel, Helen Macdonald and Ian McEwan. The Paying Guests was also shortlisted for the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction.
Two independent presses are among those celebrating after eight authors were chosen as winners of the Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize.
Jo Mazelis, published by Seren, and Carys Davies, published by Salt, were two of the eight authors who will each receive £5,000.
The prize, set up to celebrate new British fiction, awards prizes to a group of eight established British authors, with columnist India Knight leading this year's judging panel.
My Dad is a Superhero
Dad’s the word for bookshops this Sunday (21st June) as booksellers look for a Father’s Day boost. While not yet quite at the same levels as its spousal rival Mother’s Day, booksellers from indies, Waterstones and Blackwell’s have said that Father’s Day is becoming increasingly lucrative in terms of  book sales.

The autobiography of Welsh rugby international Gareth Thomas has been voted as the overall sports book of the year in the Cross British Sports Book Awards.
Proud, published by Ebury, written with journalist Michael Calvin, won the autobiography category at the awards earlier in the month. It tells of Thomas' career in rugby, and his decision to come out as gay.
