News from The Royal Society of Literature



June news 

We are delighted to announce the winner of this year's RSL Ondaatje Prize is Justin Marozzi for Baghdad: City of Peace, City of Blood (Allen Lane). Justin is pictured above receiving his award from Sir Christopher Ondaatje. The annual award of £10,000 is for a distinguished work of fiction, non-fiction or poetry, evoking the spirit of a place.This year's judges were Tash Aw, Jonathan Keates and Fiona Sampson. Our V.S. Pritchett Memorial Prize, for unpublished short stories of 2000-4000 words, closes for entries on 22 June 2015.The judges are
Philip Hensher, Adam Mars-Jones and Rose Tremain. The winning entry will be awarded £1,000 and published in the RSL Review and in Prospect online. There will be an opportunity to appear at an RSL event with the judges in autumn 2015 and we have just confirmed the winning writer will have the opportunity to read at the Word Factory salon at Waterstone's Piccadilly on Saturday 29 November.
