Bookplates: the artistic signature of ownership
When: Monday 8 June to Sunday 12 July
Where: Takapuna Library Angela Morton Art History Reading Room, Level 1
Cost:  Free
While you are visiting the Takapuna Library, take time to pore over the many and varied bookplates from our collection and from the Ex Libris Society

Ex Libris (from the books of), is often a label founded pasted on the inside of a book, stating to whom it belongs.  Stylistically, bookplates may be very simple, but can also be obscure, ornate, or even heraldic in style.  They are often a reflection of their owner’s interests.
Acquiring bookplates is a branch interest for many book collectors. This exhibition draws on the generous donations to the Library’s collections as well as drawing on the collections of members of the Auckland Ex Libris Society, the only such group in New Zealand..
Bookings are not required, but if you wished to enquire further about this  exhibition, email colleen.christie@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz or phone 890-4921
