Dragons' Den-backed publishing start-up tops book best-seller chart

Lost My Name, which won £100,000 of investment from Dragons’ Den investor Piers Linney last year, has been a success

The company sold 132,616 copies of its Lost My Name title in 2014

It knocked Julia Donaldson off the top spot for the first time in eight years. Nielson Bookscan said the company sold 132,616 copies of its eponymous Lost My Name, compared with 115,996 of Donaldson’s Superworm, generating a turnover of £6 m.

“The book moves kids and parents on a special emotional level,” said co-founder Asi Sharabi. “We’ve seen incredible feedback from people on social media. That helped us to get to where we are with a… small marketing budget.”

The title is available direct only from the company’s website, which excludes it from the official book charts.
As well as topping the picture book category, Lost My Name came third in the overall children’s book charts, beaten only by David Walliams and Minecraft.
