» Google launches tablet
Google has launched a seven-inch tablet device to rival Amazon's Kindle Fire, Apple's iPad and Microsoft's Surface, which includes a B&N Nook app. The Nexus 7 will launch in mid-July, with the UK, US, Canada and Australia the first recipients. Analyst Richard Broughton said the Nexus 7 would raise the profile of Google Play and added that: "Tablets are starting to become more popular, there will be no more need for e-readers.”

Faber has today released its app, The Sonnets by William Shakespeare, which includes readings by actors David Tennant, Kim Cattrall and Patrick Stewart. The app also features the complete Arden notes, interviews with scholars and the ability to stream the performances to AppleTV.

C&R teams up with UEA
Constable & Robinson's Corsair imprint has joined forces with the University of East Anglia to offer an annual £5,000 bursary for a student under 25 to take its acclaimed creative writing MA. UEA's Henry Sutton said: "We're in the business-or should be-of encouraging exceptional writers."
