MESSAGE FROM THE CHILDRENS BOOKSHOP, CHRISTCHURCH

As you will have heard, we’ve had a run of nasty aftershocks today. The building the shop is in had to be evacuated at lunchtime. The engineers decided that although the building is structurally sound, the concrete block in-fill walls are too dangerous for us to work there. We now have to wait for the engineers and builders to design a solution.

The Children’s Bookshop in Christchurch is temporarily closed as the building has been deemed too dangerous for us to work in. Although tired, we are not taking this lying down and are working on ways to resume trading asap. We really appreciate all the messages of support that we have been receiving, but cannot individually acknowledge them at the moment. Our email has been redirected to my home so you can continue to contact us (we look forward to the email saying that we’ve won Lotto – someone send it please). The support that we have been receiving is truly overwhelming and this morning actually stopped me swearing (much to Sheila’s delight) and reduced me to tears (no mean feat). Our thoughts go out to those shops still within the cordon and we hope that things are going well for them.
