INAUGURAL RECIPIENT ANNOUNCED
It has just been announced that Emma Neale is the recipient of the inaugural biennial NZ Society of Authors’ Janet Frame Memorial Award. The Award is offered to a mid-career writer to assist in furthering their writing career.
Emma, who is currently employed part-time as senior editor for Longacre Press, is the author of three books of poetry and four novels. Her most recent book of poetry Spark was released in February 2008. She plans to use the award for the purchase of a new computer to support the writing of a new collection of poems and a novel.
Emma is delighted and honoured to be the first recipient of this award. “Janet Frame was a brilliant writer, for whom I have the utmost respect, so it makes this award a great privilege,” she said.
