Library Week 2008 Website is now live!!
A whole new look Library Week website (http://www.libraryweek.org.nz/) is now up and running with all the information you need to organise a fantastic Library Week at your library!
There is a secure log-in area for librarians with downloadable resources and information to help you plan for NZ’s Biggest Storytime, Living Heritage Day and the Living Library Project. The link to the secure area is at the bottom right of the website and your password to log in is library
The website has plenty of suggestions for fun activities you might like to incorporate in to your Library Week schedule and plenty of resources for “NZ’s Biggest Storytime”. You can also download a press release template to help ensure Library Week is featured in your local media.
The site has plenty of information for the general public about the events taking place in libraries during the week as well as a competition for Yr 6, 7 & 8 students to submit entries for an interactive book to win book prizes.
Another feature of the website is the ‘What’s My Story’ microblog where people can tell us briefly which library they use and why. We suggest you display this page permanently on a monitor in your library throughout the week and encourage customers to tell us their story. This is a great way to gauge what resources and services people are most using and we hope to be able to provide libraries with this data at the end of the campaign.
The Library Week Committee and the design team have worked hard to develop a theme and a series of posters to target, public, school, tertiary and special libraries.
Posters and bookmarks are currently being printed and will be sent to central libraries in the next 1-2 weeks for distribution to the branches.
School libraries will receive their poster from their National Library School Advisor and schools are encouraged to download extra materials from the website.
We are not automatically sending materials to tertiary and special libraries. Libraries that would like materials will need to email megan@lianza.org.nz with postal details to receive a kit.
Please forward this notice on to all your colleagues to make sure everyone is up to date about Library Week and everyone has access to the website log-in area.
