This marks the fifth year of the Telegraph’s association with the Hay Festival, and we never cease to be staggered by the energy and ideas we come across there.

Last year, I heard Toni Morrison speak about Shakespeare, then listened to Nobel Prize-winning biologist John Gurdon explain his research with stem cells. After that, Benedict Cumberbatch impersonated Iggy Pop.

This year, the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta, some of the world’s sharpest minds will ask what we might want from a new charter.

Neil Gaiman will appear at the 2015 Hay Festival

Antony Beevor will talk about Hitler’s Last Gamble. Charlotte Rampling will look back on her 50-year career. Neil Gaiman will pay tribute to his friend Terry Pratchett.

Go to hayfestival.org to book tickets. And look out for further stellar announcements in mid-April. Our lips are sealed...
