Two HUIA winners at 2014 CLNZ Publishing Awards

Two HUIA titles were successful at the recent 2014 CLNZ Publishing Awards.
Living by the Moon - Te Maramataka o Te Whānau-ā-Apanui by Wiremu Tawhai won Best Resource in Te Reo Māori while The Spirit of Māori Leadership by Selwyn Katene was a joint winner in the Best Resource in Tertiary Education.
Authors and publishers heard from the panel of experienced judges challenge the industry to focus on student need - materials that actively engage their minds and stimulate them to want more.
The judges for the CLNZ Awards were:
  • Dr Jenny Robertson, Monitoring and Evaluation - Secondary Student Achievement,Education Faculty, University of Auckland
  • Hone Apanui, an educator, writer, translator and editor in both English and Māori
  • Dr Rebecca Jesson, Research Fellow, School of Curriculum and Pedagogy, Education Faculty, University of Auckland

Best Resource in Secondary Education
  • Conflict and Kiwis (Pearson/Edify)
Joint Best Resource in Tertiary Education
  • The Spirit of Māori Leadership (Huia NZ)
  • Kia Rōnaki: Māori Performing Arts (Pearson/Edify)
Best Resource in Te Reo Māori
  • Living by the Moon - Te Maramataka o Te Whānau-ā-Apanui (Huia NZ)
