 Detective Hercule Point and butler Jeeves joined guests at a
sleepover event in Waterstones’ flagship store on Saturday (26th October).
Altogether 19 guests spent 12 hours overnight in the bookshop
at an event organised after the company hit the headlines when an American
tourist got
locked in Waterstones Trafalgar Square and later had to be let out by
police.

Robert Harris and Peter May were among the winners at the
Specsavers Crime Thriller Awards 2014.
The awards, held on Friday (24th October) at London’s
Grosvenor House Hotel, included accolades for books as well as for film and
television.
Harris won the CWA Ian Fleming Steel Dagger for Best Thriller
of the Year, for An
Officer and a Spy (Arrow), and was also inducted into the Crime
Thriller Awards Hall of Fame.

Oliver Jeffers, David Walliams and Malorie Blackman are some
of the big-name authors on the shortlists for the 2015 Red House Children’s
Book Awards.
The shortlist is divided into three categories and in the youngest group -
books for younger children - the nominations are Dragon Loves Penguin
by Debi Gliori (Bloomsbury),
The Day the Crayons Quit by Oliver Jeffers and Drew Daywalt
(HarperCollins), Go to
Sleep or I Let Loose The Leopard by Steve Cole and Bruce Ingman
(Jonathan Cape), and That
Is Not a Good Idea by Mo Willems (Walker).
