What would you like to know about the art and craft of
memoir? The Friends of the Takapuna Library and the Michael King Writer’s
Centre invite you to an inspirational talk by author and renowned teacher of
life writing, Deborah Shepard.
Deborah is a life writing mentor for the New Zealand
Society of Authors, has taught for the Centre for Continuing Education at the
University of Auckland and will run a series of master classes for the Michael
King Writers’ Centre in 2014.
Her books include Her life’s work: conversations
with five New Zealand women, Between the lives: partners in art and Reframing
women: A history of New Zealand film. A new memoir called Pain
journal: giving yourself to life is due out this year.
Deborah's talk will include readings and excerpts from a
new work in development, Writing your heart out: the art and craft of memoir
for which she was awarded a 2013 Michael King Writers’ Residency.
