London Waterloo Station - Now Open!

The design for the shop - which you can see in the artist's impression below - incorporates elements of the original station design, including the cupola-style ticket booths, and is split over two floors.

Foyles at Waterloo Station

The ground floor carries new titles and bestsellers, with a focus on Fiction, Children's and Travel, ideal for the time-pressed commuter. There are also be sections covering Art, Biography, Business, Cookery, History, Science, Sport and more.

Up above, our mezzanine level offers a bubble of tranquillity amidst the hurly-burly of the UK's busiest rail terminus with a deeper range of Fiction to browse, including Crime and Science Fiction.
Overall, the 3000 sq ft shop carries around 15,000 titles (much like our shop at St Pancras International), as well as our eclectic range of gifts and stationery.

We look forward to welcoming you through the doors of the newest branch of the 2013 National Bookseller of the Year.

And report in The Bookseller:

Foyles' new Waterloo Station store opened at 7a.m. on Saturday (8th February) to queues of people waiting outside the door.

Two hundred limited edition Foyles at Waterloo goodie bags were given to the first customers, and manager Patrizia Sorrentino told The Bookseller that the first title to sell was Love Monster by Rachel Bright (HarperCollins Childrens Books), part of the store's Valentine's Day window display.

Sorrentino added: "We were very pleased with footfall and sales. It has been a very successful first weekend. When we opened at 7a.m. on Saturday, there were people queuing outside the door to get in and we got rid of the 200 special edition bags in less than two hours.
"Many people were saying they will come and spend lots of money with us - there is a very good feeling about a Foyles shop opening here."

The store opens from 7a.m. until 9.30p.m. at one of the busiest train stations in the UK with around 125 million people passing through the station every year.
It is the second Foyles bookshop in a London rail terminus and is similar in size and style to the branch at St Pancras International at 2,800 sq ft

The store was first intended to open in November, but due to technicalities in the lease, it was delayed until January when it faced further setbacks.
The ground floor will carry new titles and bestsellers, with a focus on fiction, children's and travel. Art, biography, business, cookery, history, science and sport will have dedicated sections, with the mezzanine level offering "a deeper range of fiction to browse, including crime and science fiction."

Sam Husain, chief executive of Foyles, said: "Our success in St Pancras International has demonstrated how well our branches perform at major London termini and how much their range and quality is appreciated by busy commuters."
He added: "A few months later, we will relocate our flagship store on Charing Cross Road, with over 200,000 titles, a few doors down to the iconic former Central Saint Martins College. We very much look forward to welcoming customers at all our stores".

Altogether 10 booksellers will be employed in the store. The new opening brings the total number of Foyles stores to seven.
